GKN Fokker can be found at two locations: Hoogeveen and Papendrecht. Both locations are also home to our business schools where you can develop your technical talent and learn directly about practice during the MBO 3 BBL training programme All-round aircraft assembler.
GKN Fokker Hoogeveen
You can follow the All-round aircraft assembler programme at GKN Fokker in Hoogeveen. Over two years, we build your skills through hands-on training and six- to seven-week placements across multiple departments. You’ll spend four days each week working in our Hoogeveen facility, gaining real-world experience in aircraft component assembly.
In Hoogeveen, we focus on plastic assembly and composite processing of thermosetting and thermoplastic materials. During practical lessons, you will also discover how different technologies contribute to stronger, more durable aircraft components.
You also attend one day of theory classes per week at Alfa College in Hoogeveen. You complete the program with an MBO level 3 exam. After that, we offer opportunities to continue your education and advance into support or leadership roles. The All-Round Aircraft Assembler program begins each September.

GKN Fokker Papendrecht
Papendrecht is one of two locations where you can follow the All-Round Aircraft Assembler program. Over two years, we build your craftsmanship through hands-on lessons and placements across various departments. You spend four days per week gaining practical experience at GKN Fokker in Papendrecht.
At the Papendrecht training facility, the focus is on sheet-metal work, where you learn both traditional methods and modern techniques such as 3D printing and ultrasonic curing. Ultrasonic curing uses high-frequency sound waves to activate the resin in composite materials. These vibrations cause the resin to cure faster and more evenly, bonding the layers firmly. This process makes the parts you build not only extremely strong but also lightweight and capable of withstanding heavy loads in aviation.
The Papendrecht site also specializes in manufacturing empennages (the tail assemblies of an aircraft, such as the horizontal stabilizer and vertical fin), wing components, fuselage sections, and more—for commercial airliners, business jets, and military applications.

You complete the program with an MBO level 3 exam, after which we offer opportunities to continue your studies and advance into support or leadership roles. Through multiple internship periods you’ll explore every department within GKN Fokker. That way you not only master the technical fundamentals but also discover where your talents and interests shine brightest. Whether you’re building parts for commercial airliners or working on defense components, you’ll develop your skills in a safe, innovative environment at both locations.
